AiM Expands Its Sales & Marketing Division

LONG BEACH, Calif. (Sept. 19, 2016) — Alliance Inspection Management (AiM), a national independent third-party inspection company, has hired Michael Francis as the National Sales Director of Used Cars & Rental Cars. Francis will lead and oversee AiM’s sales growth and retention in its major used and rental car vehicle inspection markets, focusing on developing and fostering relationships with current and potential clients to maintain and grow revenue in their respective sales channel. Francis will report to Eric Widmer, AiM Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

Francis has over 20 years of automotive industry experience, working for brands including Volkswagen of America and most recently, Ally Financial, where he served as Director of National Accounts at SmartAuction. There, he was responsible for directing strategic initiatives with OEM’s/captives, rental companies, banks, as well as strategic buyers and sellers to diversify and grow the SmartAuction platform.

AiM Hires New Vice President of Auction Operations

LONG BEACH, Calif. (May 9, 2016) Alliance Inspection Management (AiM), a national independent third-party inspection company, has hired a new Vice President of Auction Operations. Effective May 2, 2016, Jeff Gaetz will oversee and manage all of AiM’s vehicle inspection operations at various auctions sites around the U.S. Gaetz’s responsibilities will also include managing AiMs nationwide network of auction inspections and operations as well as supporting customer relationships throughout the U.S. and Canada. In his role, he will also work to grow the business at fixed locations and work with the major consignors, auction companies and independent auctions to provide inspection services and technology solutions to meet the needs of buyers and sellers. Gaetz will report to Tom Gardner, Sr. Vice President of Operations.

Jeff Gaetz previous experience includes more than 20 years at Southern Auto Auction, where he last held the position of National Sales Manager. His primary focus was on nurturing national and regional accounts in the automotive, banking and finance industries. Gaetz holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Norwich University. Gaetz has also been employed by Eastern Powersports as Vice President and by Hertz Corporation as a Regional Car Sales Manager where he managed the retail, wholesale and special event operations in the Northeast.  He developed the automotive auction industry’s first vehicle management solution, “Auction 2000.”

Launching AiM Inspect OVE Android App

Long Beach, California – AiM is excited to announce the national release of AiM Inspect OVE, a mobile app to help our field service managers (FSMs) conduct Manheim OVE outside the gate inspections. AiM Inspect OVE runs on Active smartphones. It replaces InspeXmobile and Toughbooks for conducting OVE outside the gate inspections. The app is part of our continual transition to next generation technology to power our inspection professionals and the industry.

Inspections from the new app receive an AutoGrade, generate an InSight CR and automatically post on Features of the app include built-in Capture functionality, integrated photo capabilities and a user-friendly flat car interface for entering damages. The new app is being rolled-out in waves. FSMs will receive information shortly on next steps.

We are launching AiM CRM OVE in parallel with the roll-out of the Android app. AiM CRM OVE is a web-based app to help our dispatchers manage OVE inspection requests. It replaces the existing CRM for managing OVE inspection requests. The web-app is the first version of a new tool-set for dispatchers aimed at efficiency and superior service for our customers.

Manheim Teams With AiM To Expand Inspection Services


Manheim on Tuesday announced it is teaming up with Alliance Inspection Management to enhance its vehicle inspection capabilities at auction sites and dealerships throughout the U.S.

More than ever, dealers are relying on inspection reports to aid the sales process and make buying decisions. Last year, Manheim conducted 3.5 million vehicle inspections, and the company expects that figure to top 4.2 million this year.

ORLANDO — How to allow auction buyers to bid for vehicles across competing auction company platforms until the sale is done, without the platforms having to work together?

Let outside vendors, rather than the industry giants, figure it out.

That’s the view of some remarketers who realize that the major, competing platform players — ADESA’s, Manheim’s, and Ally Financial Inc.’s SmartAuction — may not come together to provide that solution.

Avis Direct: A Successful Partnership Powered By AiM Technology!

Avis Direct Tops 3,000 Registered Dealers


Avis Budget Group announced on Tuesday that more than 3,000 dealers have registered to date to participate in Avis Direct, the company’s used-vehicle sales program designed exclusively for licensed dealers.

Launched in February of last year, Avis Direct is designed to provide dealers with a dedicated website to buy late-model, off-rental vehicles from the Avis, Budget, Payless and Zipcar brands — with no enrollment or purchase fees.

Condition reports: Critical both in-lane & online

If you look at the cars sold via Auction Edge, more than 93 include a photograph.

Meanwhile, roughly 63 percent include a condition report.

That gap shown in these statistics — provided during an Auction Edge presentation at the Digital Managers Session of the Auction Academy near Chicago this summer — doesn’t necessarily mean, however, that the condition report isn’t vital.
