Title: Auto Damage Field Inspector

Reports to: Area Manager

I. Summary

This is an exciting, challenging and highly visible position.  The AiM Auto Damage Field Inspector conducts mobile, used vehicle inspections within a designated geographical area. The field inspector will perform a variety of different inspections ranging from off‐lease vehicles at a lessee’s home or business to major damage vehicles on behalf of an insurance provider.  The field inspector will also be cross-trained to perform dealer floor plan audits on behalf of automobile finance companies.

 

The field inspector must maintain high ethical/company standards and policies when conducting inspections and audits on behalf of AiM. All field inspectors are provided with a company vehicle, equipped with GPS technology, subject to satisfactorily meeting all AiM standards/requirements upon being offered a position.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Vehicle inspections – The field inspector drives to locations such as homes, offices, and other fixed sites to perform used vehicle inspections. A field inspector must accurately assess vehicle condition, estimate value of required repairs (using damage estimating software), document findings in a condition report, and transmit completed reports after each inspection.
  • Dealer Floor Plan Audits –The field inspectors will be cross-trained to perform dealer floor plan audits based on geographical area and need. The field inspectors will be responsible for a physical count of vehicles, in addition to an audit of dealer’s records including the sale, disposition and proceeds of the vehicles in question. The field inspectors will be responsible for reconciling dealer and AiM customer physical counts, and in some cases, facilitating payment from dealer to the finance company.

 

  • Performance Expectations – Document and record vehicle damages, utilizing proprietary inspection and damage estimating software with laptop computer and digital camera. The field inspectors will be expected to electronically report status of his/ her assignments during the day using AiM’s proprietary scheduling and routing software in order to maintain high productivity each work day.
  • Customer Engagement The field inspectors will be the front line in regards to face-to-face interaction with AiM’s clients including their dealers and lessees. This position will require an increased level of customer service skills combined with a heightened sense of professionalism.
  • Other – Perform additional duties as required by the Company. Make continuous recommendations to improve quality and efficiency.

III. Supervisory Responsibilities 

On occasion, field inspectors may be asked to train new hire field inspectors and supervise group dealer audits.

Education

  • Minimum 4 years of consistent, full-time work experience
  • General knowledge of automotive components preferred. AiM will train the ideal candidate.
  • Automotive Estimating/ Repair a plus
  • Experience working independently or with limited supervision

I. Summary

Conducts quality assurance/transportation vehicle inspection activities at designated locations. Performs uniform, consistent inspections on newly manufactured vehicles. Maintains and adheres to company standards for all inspections, using hand held scanning device, writing implement, and other required equipment and supplies. Ensures timely transmission of inspection results on a daily basis.

II. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

New Vehicle inspections

  • Performs new vehicle inspections from various car manufacturers for minor/ major impact damages, vandalism, factory defects, restraint failure damages, accidents, weather related damages and damages incurred during the transportation process.
  • Document and code damages as they are found and provide damage verification codes for trucking companies prior to the vehicles being delivered to the car dealerships.
  • Able to complete inspections in demanding outdoor environments and fast paced, multi-organization facilities.
  • Responsible for quality of inspections, consistency of standards, performance of data transmission, and timeliness of inspections.
  • Ability to interpret and make analytical inspection decisions based on a defined set of guidelines applied to new vehicles. Inspections may occur on the grounds, or on board rail cars.
  • Damage Reports
  • Documents and records vehicle damages, utilizing a handheld computer and digital camera. Ability to identify physical auto damage; assist in conducting root-cause analysis of transportation related damage. Renders routine oral and written reports of inspection results as required. All files are to be transmitted upon completion of the inspection. Perform other related duties as requested, including but not limited to locating vehicles and boarding rail cars and ships.

Auction Facility Manager

  1. Summary

The Auction Facility Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the inspection operations at a fixed- site auction facility. The Facility Manager will work cooperatively with the facility as well as other vendors or contractors assigned to the site.

  1. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Inspections – Perform used vehicle inspections.
  • Supervision – Responsible for the implementation of Company policies and procedures at the facility. Oversee operations including the multi-shift inspections (if applicable) of automobiles. The Facility Manager is also responsible for ensuring that the inspectors are provided with the equipment necessary to perform their assigned duties.
    • Will be selected to supervise two Auction sites in Chicago, IL
  • Vehicle Inspection Reports – Provide oral and written reports of vehicle inspections to customer representatives as well as to the appropriate corporate managers and executives. Ensure that all files are transmitted upon completion of inspections.
  • RecruitmentResponsible for employee recruitment, termination, training, scheduling and discipline as well as related employee health and safety issues.
  • Time Cards – Reviews and approves time cards.
